IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Darlene Ann
Tremblay
August 22, 1950 – June 13, 2025
Darlene Ann Tremblay, 74 of DeLand, Florida passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025. Darlene was born August 22, 1950 in Jackson, Michigan, and was the eldest of five daughters of the late Edwin and Marjorie Good.
She is survived by her sons, Matthew and Justin Tremblay; daughter, Amy Houlihan; six grandchildren: Corey, Morgan, Edwin, Madison, Parker, and Lennie; great grandson, Noah; her cousin, Suzie Blanton; sisters, Diane Good and Kay Scanlan; her niece, Dana; her nephews, Eric, Scott, and Jason; and her great niece Lila. She is preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Marjorie Good; sisters, Deborah Good and Sharon Boyle; husband, Leonard Tremblay; and nephew, Joseph Scanlan.
Darlene graduated Vandercook High School in 1968, and married David Lee Morgan later that summer. They welcomed their first son, Matthew in 1973. Later that year they relocated to DeLand, Florida to be closer to her parents, and two youngest sisters who moved to the area earlier that year. They welcomed their second son Justin, who was born in 1979. She later divorced, and met Leonard Tremblay who she married in 1982. Together they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Amy, in 1985.
Darlene started working for the Volusia County Corrections Department in 1981 till her retirement in 2004 where she earned the title of Corporal, and spent most of her tenure running the control room overnight.
Darlene found joy in sewing. Whether she was creating clothes for her children when they were young, for her grandchildren, or mending something in need of fixing, she did it with care and skill.
She also had a true talent for baking—she was the best. During the holidays her children knew they couldn't make plans when they were younger because they all became her baking assistants making dozens of pies for co-workers, friends, and family. Many birthday, wedding, and anniversary cakes were made over the years, and all of the kids & grandkids got to share in the spoils of helping clean the mixer beaters, and bowls. Later in her retirement the tradition continued on a smaller scale making enough pies for her loved ones to leave her house with a homemade pie in hand.
Darlene cherished the simple joys of life like playing penny poker at home with friends and loved ones. She especially enjoyed teaching her grandchildren how to play. Bingo was another favorite pastime one she shared with her mother, and later passed on to her granddaughter when she was old enough to join in.
Of all the things that brought Darlene joy, nothing made her happier than spending time with her grandchildren. She adored having them over for sleepovers, filling the house with laughter, late-night snacks, and love. Her home was always open, always warm, and always full of the people she cherished most.
Darlene had a sharp, unforgettable sense of humor. She could always make people laugh with her quick wit, and surprising jokes. You never quite knew what she was going to say—but whatever it was, it would leave you smiling, and laughing.
Darlene had a joyful spirit and a generous heart. Her faith was central to her life, and lived by The Serenity Prayer. Darlene was deeply devoted to her church, where she built lifelong friendships and found a strong sense of community. She had a heart for giving, and was always willing to help where she could. She often volunteered her time at the Salvation Army.
Anyone who knew Darlene knew one more thing for sure—she loved Elvis. She would've married him if she could.
Darlene was loved by all who knew her, and will be deeply missed. She will forever be remembered for her humor, generosity, and unwavering love for her family. Darlene's legacy lives on in the countless lives she touched, the traditions she created, and the joy she shared so freely. As Elvis once sang, "Memories, pressed between the pages of my mind…"—and Darlene leaves behind many beautiful memories that will live in our hearts always.
