Obituary

Darlene Louise Anderson, 76, of Ormond Beach, who retired in 1989 after a 25-year career with the Social Security Administration, died Tuesday at Halifax Medical Center.

Mrs. Anderson, a native of Hannibal, Missouri, received the Commissioner's Citation from the United States Department of Health, Education, and Welfare for her exceptional career service while with the Social Security Administration. From a young age, Mrs. Anderson had always been interested in a career of service to others. Mrs. Anderson has been volunteering her time at the Halifax Humane Society Thrift Store in Ormond Beach. Her membership included First Presbyterian Church of Daytona Beach. She enjoyed gardening, traveling, and spending time with her family and her beloved dog, Cody.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Warren; four sons, Jay Jolley, Ormond Beach, Mark Anderson, Fayetteville, North Carolina, Derrick Anderson, Wade, North Carolina, and Brian Anderson, Daytona Beach; a brother, Terry Taylor, Hannibal, Missouri, five granddaughters; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins across the United States.

Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Beach, is in charge of arrangements. A celebration of Life service is planned for Friday, February 28, 2014, at 2 o'clock at the First Presbyterian Church of Daytona Beach, 620 Grandview Avenue, Daytona Beach. Mrs. Anderson's final resting place will eventually be amongst her family in Hannibal, Missouri.
