Obituary

Darin Lynn Child, whose life exemplified the love of his family and friends, died April 20, 2015, just six days shy of his 50th birthday. His death came just 40 days after being diagnosed with Stage 4 metastatic melanoma of the liver.

Darin, a native of Ogden, Utah, was a 1983 graduate of Spruce Creek High School. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, where he met Celeste, the love of his life. An employee of the Transportation Department of NASCAR, he enjoyed auto racing, riding bicycles, fishing, camping and spending time with family and friends. He also was a member of the Boy Scouts of America.

Survivors include his childhood sweetheart of 34 years and his wife of 27 years, Celeste Davis Child; his cherished daughter, Tabitha Marie Child; his beloved son, Randy Allan Child; one precious granddaughter, Lucy Monroe O'Donnell; and two honorary grandchildren, Ava and Alex DiTusa. Additional survivors include his mother, L. Marie Child; his siblings, Randy Lee Child, Kristine (James Pepe) Gibson, Jodi (Charles) Link and Judi Douphin; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Fredrick and Vera Child; his maternal grandparents, Lawrence and LaVerda Bingham; his father, Marvin Child; and his father-in-law, Dr. Allan M. Davis.

Calling hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 24, at Lohman Funeral Home, 1201 Dunlawton Ave., Port Orange. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, 1125 Sixth St., Daytona Beach, with Steven Henderson officiating.
