Daniel Cunnington Phillps III, age 61, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida passed away on July 15, 2024 after an intense battle with aggressive cancer. Born in Spartanburg, South Carolina, he was the son of Daniel Cunnington Phillips Jr. and the late Marion Elizabeth Wilson. Dan is survived by his children, Courtney Gomez, Matthew Phillips and Danny Phillips IV; granddaughters Emersyn and Stevie; brothers John Phillips and Mark Phillips, their wives Amy and Colleen and many beloved aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Margaret Mary Painter Phillips and sister, Sharon Phillips.
Dan was an incredibly hard worker and throughout his career, he helped grow companies from the ground up. In his most recent role, he was the President of CareHawk LLC where he was passionate about enhancing the safety of schools, hospitals and other public spaces. Dan was an avid Baltimore sports fan, cheering for the Baltimore Orioles & Ravens no matter if the team was good, bad or ugly. In his free time, he enjoyed spending time at the beach, ending the day with a glass of red wine or dinner with great company. He'd often mention how he made the best crab cakes and shared this treat with anyone who would give him the chance. While he was always a fan of theater, taking his daughter to see many shows over the years, he finally made the leap and took on a role in The Odd Couple at the Little Theatre of New Smyrna Beach, in 2022.
Above all, Dan was a loving and devoted father. He showed his unwavering support to all three of his children in each of their endeavors, from sports to promotions at work to creating families of their own. His love was felt in every corner of their lives and his presence will be sorely missed.
The memorial service will be privately held for close family, friends & colleagues at Lohman Funeral Home, 1201 Dunlawton Avenue, Port Orange, Florida 32127.
