A Visitation will be held from 6-8pm Friday April 6 2012 in the Chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond with an informal Celebration of Life Service being held at 7:30 pm. Daniel John Harting went home to be with the Lord on March 31 2012.
Born February 6 1927 in Mascoutah Illinois. He was the oldest of four children born to Erwin and Aurelia Harting. The family moved to Decatur Illinois where he attended St. Teresa High School and Brown's Business College. He enlisted in the U.S. Army. He served in Germany during WWII and later in Korea. He married Catherine Knuf in 1952. She predeceased him in 1991. They lived in Decatur Illinois where he began a career in the heating and air conditioning business. In 1969 he moved his family to Daytona Beach FL where he continued to work in that field. He worked for Flair Heating and Air Conditioning in Port Orange FL for 34 years. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus for over 50 years. He volunteered for the Volusia County Sheriff's Office in their Citizens Observer Program. He was also a lifelong member of the NRA. He was very proud of his family members that served and are currently serving in the military. He is survived by his children Danielle Coleman (Bruce) John Jeffrey Harting (Susie) and Eric Harting (Susan); His grandchildren Major Matthew Coleman (Lt. Col Carolyn) Melanie Morgan (Capt. Eric) Sgt. Blake Harting (Chelsie) Lt. Billy Faulk and Katie Harting. His great-grandchildren Jordan and Boston Morgan Joseph Coleman and Billy and Brody Faulk. He is also survived by his dear friend Gloria Reed brother James Harting and sisters Patricia DeMoss and Mary Kay Bollhorst.
