Constantine "Gus" Geaneas age 89 passed away peacefully on January 18 2010. Funeral services will be held Friday Jan. 22nd at 10:30am at St. Demetrious Greek Orthodox Church with Rev. Fr. Joseph Samaan officiating. His family will receive friends on Thursday Jan. 21st from 6-8pm in the chapel of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond with a Trisagion Prayer Service at 8pm. Gus was born on February 14 1920 in Brooklyn NY to Keriakos & Kanelio Geaneas whose family originated from Sparta Greece. He attended VPI (Virginia Polytechnic Institute) Military College in Blacksburg Virginia now known as Virginia Tech and subsequently served as an Army Captain in WWII with the CIC (Counterintelligence) in both the European Theatre as well as the Philippines. After the war he was an agent with the ATF before relocating to Florida. He then went into business with his siblings owning and operating "The Surf Bar" and "The Ocean Pier & Casino". He owned and operated restaurants and night clubs along with his son Kerry whose family business included three generations. He was best known for "The Famous Beachcomber" which was a Spring Break Mecca and a Daytona Beach landmark for decades. His father founded the first Greek Church in Brooklyn "The Three Hierarchs" and Gus was an active member of St. Demetrious Greek Orthodox Church in Daytona Beach who along with his wife funded the new Greek School at St. Demetrious. Gus is survived by his loving wife of 60 years Regina "Kiki"; his devoted son Kerry and daughter in law Pamela Geaneas who was also his caregiver of Ormond Beach FL his daughter Marina and son in law Jim Kenney of Bronxville NY and his three grandchildren Stephen Kenny of NYC and twins Troy and Audra Geaneas both of Ormond Beach FL his beloved grand-dog Bentley and his nieces and nephews Alex Leras Karen Haney Kerry Christie Geaneas Karen Deleon Judy Attwood & George Stamatis.
