Constance Theresa Coco, 91, passed away on July 19, 2014. A visitation and prayer service will be held at Lohman Funeral Home, Port Orange, Florida, on Tuesday, July 29, 2014, from 5:00pm - 7:00pm (Prayer service beings at 6:30pm). Mass will be at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church, Port Orange, Florida, on Wednesday, July 30, 2014, at 8:30am. A graveside service will be held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Silver Springs, Maryland, on Friday, August 1, 2014, at 2:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that a donation be made to your favorite charity in Connie's name.
Connie was born on April 8, 1923 in Lawrence, Massachusetts, to Joseph and Sebastiana Coco. She moved to Washington DC in 1941, at the age of 18, to work for the US Federal Government. Connie retired in 1984 after 43 years of service. In 1987 Connie and her mother moved to Port Orange, Florida to be with her sister Nellie and family. Connie was a loving, thoughtful and genuine daughter, sister and the best aunt ever.
Connie was preceded in death by her father and mother, nephew, Joe, and cousin, Nina. She is survived by her sister, Nellie; nephews and niece, Don, Larry, John, Mike, Connie and their children and grandchildren, and cousin Joe.
Connie's parents were Sicilian Immigrants. She spoke both Sicilian and English and embraced the traditions of her heritage. Connie cared for her mother and father until their deaths. She never married but her life was full of love. Connie enjoyed family, cooking Italian meals for family, sharing recipes, traveling, opera, theatre and museums. She especially enjoyed a good cup of coffee in the morning and a glass of red wine at night.
