Obituary

Connie John Pappas of Carmel, California passed away peacefully surrounded by his family and loved ones on January 8, 2016. He was born in Kamenitsa, Greece on April 6, 1931 to John and Fotene Papastavrou. Connie immigrated to the United States in November 1951. He volunteered for military service during the Korean War in 1954. It was during his tour of duty in Korea that he learned the watch repair trade. Upon his return Connie successfully attained a college degree and began his career as a jewelry artisan. It was soon thereafter he married his wife, Bessie. Connie was a devoted employee and beloved member of his community with four decades of service to his employer Armstrong Jewelers in Hammond, Indiana. Connie served his church community by being an active parish council member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, a respected member of his local AHEPA chapter, as well as a member of the Shriners in Hammond, Indiana.

Connie is survived by his wife, Bessie, his daughters Helen (John) Lubben, Tina Pappas of Carmel, California and his four grandchildren, Toni, Andi, Jake and Luke. He is also survived by his siblings Vasiliki Agelopoulos, Chris Pappas, Maria Gregory, Afrodite Antipas and Irene Stefanou.

Connie was much beloved by his children and grandchildren. His family was the light of his life. And he felt fortunate to be able to spend his final years watching his grandchildren grow.

Connie will be remembered as a strong, kind, humble man with a beautiful smile and laugh.

The funeral service will be held at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church on Saturday January 16, 2016 at
10:30am.
