Col. (Ret) Frank Goodwin Forrest, Ph.D., of Daytona Beach, Florida, died, October 10, 2014, at his home, with his family at his side. Service of Remembrance with full military honors will be celebrated on Wednesday, October 22th at 4:30 pm at Lohman Funeral Home; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach. The family will receive friends one hour prior to services.

Frank was born July 2, 1915 in Brooklyn, New York to Commander Charles B. Forrest and Mrs. Sally Simon Forrest. Upon high school graduation, Frank went on to obtain his Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Military Academy at West Point, NY in 1939. While attending West Point he was a member of the swim, diving, wrestling, and track teams. He was also a senior cheer leader and pistol sharpshooter. He received his diploma from the US Command and General Staff College, Fort Leavenworth, KA. He continued his education by earning his Master of Arts degree from Stetson University, Deland, FL and his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Leadership and Human Behavior, US International University, San Diego, CA.

Col. Forrest was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, US Army in 1939. He served in World War II in Alaska and the Aleutian Islands. During the Korean War he was commander of an infantry company, battalion and training regiment. He was a qualified Army airplane and helicopter pilot and flew aerial missions during the Korean War. He retired as a Colonel with aeronautical rating of Senior Army Aviator in March 1964. During his many years of service he received numerous decorations and awards.

Retired from military service, Col. Forrest joined Embry-Riddle Aeronautical Institute in April 1964. He was instrumental in the planning and coordination of the Daytona Beach campus. He played a major role in the development and transition of the school from an Institute to a University. He retired from Embry-Riddle as Vice President in 1977.

Once retired from Embry-Riddle, Frank devoted his time and efforts to the science of value and ethics. He studied the work of Robert S. Hartman and was a charter member of the RS Hartman Institute, Knoxville, TN, at its inception in 1978. He served on the Board of Directors for many years and was an Emeritus member of the Board of Directors at the time of his death. Frank authored several publications including The Science of Personal and Professional Ethics and Ethical Decision Making for the 21st Century. His last book was utilized in the classes at Daytona Beach Community College.

Over the years, Frank enjoyed fishing, hunting, skiing, surfing, bicycling and spending time with his family and friends. In his later life he continued to pursue his passion for valumetrics and professional ethics.

Col. Frank Forrest was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Charles and Edward. He is survived by his loving wife, Eunice C. Forrest, Daytona Beach, his son, Frank G. Forrest II (Mary), California, grandson, Frank G. Forrest III, Missouri, three great-grandchildren, his sister, Brandon Rohr, Virginia, nephew, Thomas Fuquay, nieces, Nancy Saufl (Joseph) and Susan Voges (William) all of Ormond Beach, as well as several great nieces and nephews.
