CLYDE KING 75 of Daytona Beach died at his home after a lengthy illness on Thursday September 16 2004.
Mr. King was born in Knox County Tennessee January 17 1929 and moved to the Daytona Beach area in 1961 from Knoxville Tennessee.
Mr. King was a retired sign electrician. His first job was at Post Sign Company in Knoxville Tennessee where his father and grandfather were employed for many years. Upon his arrival in Daytona Beach Mr. King was employed by Mel-Web Sign Company. Mr. King later formed his own company King Sign Company were he was employed until his retirement in 1992.
Mr. King was a member of Calvary Assembly of God. He had been an elder at Holly Heights Assembly of God a youth leader Sunday school teacher and a missionary worker to Haiti?building and wiring schools and churches.
Mr. King was instrumental in the founding of Heavenly Cheesecakes & Chocolates a company founded by his wife Patricia and daughter Phyllis Hutson. His support and assistance to his family in this endeavor was tireless and unflagging.
Mr. King is survived by his wife of 57 years Patricia one sister Betty L. Risden of Clinton Tennessee son Robert E. King and wife Diane King Toms Brook Virginia son Darrell L. King and wife Robin King Port Orange daughter Linda Dittman and husband Richard Dittman Port Orange daughter Phyllis Hutson and husband Gordon Hutson Daytona Beach eight grandchildren Richard ?Troy? Dittman Daytona Beach Jason T. Dittman Tampa Florida Christopher King Bel Air Maryland Melissa Butler Stephens City Virginia Travis Hutson Daytona Beach Dawn Marie King Port Orange Joshua King Port Orange Caleb King Port Orange and eight great grandchildren Kacey Butler and Wade Butler both of Stephens City Virginia Kye Dittman Nicole Dittman and Rebecca Dittman all of Daytona Beach Jaylon Dittman and Johanna Dittman both of Tampa and Jaden King of Edgewater.
The family wishes to express their thanks to Dr. John Parnell who was a friend and family physician to Mr. King for more than 25-years; to Halifax Hospital?s cancer unit and their loving caring nursing staff; and to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler.
The family will receive visitors Sunday September 19 2004 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Baggett & Summer Funeral Home at 736 South Beach Street Daytona Beach Florida. A memorial service will be held Monday September 20 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Calvary Assembly of God 1687 West Granada Boulevard Ormond Beach Florida Reverend James Raley officiating.
Memorial donations can be made in Mr. King?s name to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler.
