Clifford A
Rock
Apr 3, 1941 — Jul 14, 2023
Deltona
Clifford Alphonso Rock, 82, born April 3, 1941 in Passaic, NJ. Lived his life in Belleville, NJ. Passed away peacefully on July 14, 2023 with his children, Doreen and Donald, by his side.
"Cliff", "Rock", "Uncle", "Uncle Clifford", "Daddy", "Pop", and "Pop Pop" were the names he was fondly called by friends and family. He was a hard worker and a saver. He worked as a truck driver for "Jersey Tab Card Co" for many years until they closed the doors in 1991. He then had a few other driving jobs, and a union job until he retired in the early 2000's.
If you knew Cliff, you knew he had a love for cars and motorcycles. You could always find him in the lot/yard, washing and maintaining the cars and some days with just a wet rag wiping them down. Cadillacs were his favorite. He always had one in the driveway along with other cars that he treasured and alternately drove.
He loved sitting on the porch and conversing with anyone who would walk or drive by the house on Terrace Pl. There was always a single or a five tucked away in his sock in case he seen a neighborhood kid or a grandchild. Even some of the bigger kids got something from the other sock. That's the kind of man he was. He was the Parking Police for the lot at 7 Terrace Place, cones and all, directing where and who could park there, and he was the block watch committee, all by himself, nothing got past him. He had for, and was given respect from all.
As years went on he would stop giving birthday cards, but he would give money gifts wrapped in napkins. Those napkins (which he had tons of them everywhere), were creased so perfectly you would have thought he bought them in a store like that. We all got a kick out of our perfectly wrapped and creased napkin birthday cards, that he would write our names on and sign. Something so special to make us laugh that only he could do.
Clifford was predeceased by his parents, James Sr. and Blanche (nee Belle) Rock, sister Blanche Cagle, brother Eugene "Gene" Rock and stepson Carl Harris. Left to mourn his loss is his brother, James Rock Jr. and his wife Jean, sister Ora "Bootsie" Yates. His ex-wife Dorothy Hill, daughter Doreen (nee Rock) Agosto, son Donald Rock and his wife Rosa, stepson Chad Harris and his wife Nakeya and their children.
Grandchildren: Matthew Agosto and his wife Lynn, Shiann Brooks, Crystal Cruz, and DJ Rock. Great-grandsons, Raymond and Nicholas Agosto, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews, and a host of other family and friends.
As you would tell everyone when you hung up the phone "Love You Too", just know, that we All, Love You Too!!! Your work here is done now take your rest, we love you but God loves you best. Rest In Paradise.
