Clifford B. Roberts 79 of Port Orange died Monday June 12 at Florida Hospital Ormond Memorial. He was born in Bloomfield New Jersey on July 28 1926 to Viola and George Roberts. Cliff was a Navy veteran of WW II serving aboard the USS Louisville as a Fireman First Class from July 1944 through June 1946. He was awarded the American Theatre Medal the Victory Medal and the Asiatic Pacific Star Medal. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy he returned to his position at Westinghouse Lamp Division in Bloomfield NJ where he remained employed till his retirement in 1984. In 1988 Cliff and his wife Evelyn moved to Port Orange. He remained active during his retirement devoting much of his time to woodworking his lifelong hobby. Until a few years ago when he became too ill to travel Cliff still enjoyed annual fishing trips to Lake Champlain in Vermont.
Clifford Roberts is survived by his wife of nearly 59 years Evelyn Salter Roberts daughter Claudia Roberts Salvano of Longwood FL. 2 sons; Brian Roberts of Denver NC. and Neil Roberts of Hillsborough NJ. a brother Douglas Roberts of Waretown NJ and his 8 grandchildren. Cliff was preceded in death by his daughter Deborah Lynn Roberts and a brother Walter Roberts.
Family and friends will celebrate the life of Clifford Roberts at a memorial service in New Jersey on July 28 2006.
