Lt. Col. Clifford H. Muller Jr. of Pelican Bay died peacefully at home
October 2 in presence of his loving wife Candy and dear friends. He was a retired veteran of the veteran of the US Air Force. He was born in Jersey City NJ
And had been resident in this area since 1973.
He graduated from Washington & Lee University in Lexington VA
With a juris Doctor Doctor of Law degree in 1949.
Col. Muller served in US Army Air Corps in World War II from 1942 to 1946. After the war his foreign service tours included duty in the Caribbean; in England North Africa 1951 to 1953; Northern Japan 1956 to 1960 as a District Commander for the USAF Office of special Investigations. From 1963 to 1967 he served as Air Attach to the American Ambassador in Helsinki Finland. He was both a personal aide to the Ambassador and his pilot on all Embassy airplane flights.
Col. Muller was command Pilot and had a total of 27 000 flying hours on military and civilian aircraft to his credit.
He retired from the Air Force in May 1967 and took a position as Academic Advisor and Vice President in two colleges; Stratford College in Danville VA and Champlain College in Burlington VT from 1967 to 1973.
After moving to Daytona Beach he held administrative positions and was also in charge of Advanced Flight Programs at Embry- Riddle Aeronautical University; Daytona Beach Aviation and Phoenix East Aviation from 1975 to 2000.
He was a member of the Military Officers Association of America and the Air Force Association Flying was his great love and he spent lots of time reading and listening to music of the Big Band era. He was an active participant in competitive sports; football golf tennis swimming and jogging.
He is survived by Candy Muller his wife of 38 years; a daughter Lindley Ann Reetz; son Clifford H. Muller III both of Santa Barbara CA and four granddaughters Laura Kelli Kristin and Kimberly.
There will be a private reunion for the family and his closest friends to celebrate his life at a later date.
