Cleveland J. Harris 87 a long-time resident of the Daytona Beach area passed away March 8 2010. He was raised in Virginia and spent most of his younger years working on the family farm in addition to making and transporting ammunition used by the US Navy. In his mid-thirties he married his adoring wife Sue to whom he shared a life with for over 50 years. Over forty years ago he and his wife relocated to Florida and opened Harris Paint and Body Shop in Port Orange and later in South Daytona. Cleveland was known to most people as a "simple man" and a workaholic. Although he was retired at the time he passed away he continued to do things around the home. Cleveland had a passion for cars and would always trade his in for a new model every two to three years. He will however be remembered most for his love of storytelling and for the "gift of gab." He will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know him. Left to cherish his memory are his wife Sue; sons Melvin and Dennis Harris of Daytona and Donald Harris and his wife Delana of Port Orange; daughters Joann Sovia and her husband George of Mountain City TN and Deborah Harris of Port Orange; five grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. Services will be private.
