Claribelle M. Held, 91 of Ormond Beach, FL passed away February 15, 2015 at "The Sarah House 1" Assisted Living Facility in Ormond Beach.
Claribelle was born April 19, 1923 in Lamar, Colorado, moving as a young child with her family to Toledo Ohio, and then to Detroit Michigan, where her father worked in the automobile industry. She was the first in her family to graduate from High School, of which she was very proud. On March 28, 1942, she married Raymond Held, who she met while working at the Ford Motor Company, and moved to Carleton, Michigan.
In March 1952 their only child, Denise, was born. In March 1956, the family moved to Daytona Beach Shores and purchased the 'Chateau Motel', which they owned and operated until 1968. When General Electric opened their plant in Daytona in the 1960's, they were among the first employees hired, with Ray retiring in 1984 as an Electronic Technician, and Claribelle retiring in 1986 as a Quality Control Supervisor. In 1985 they were one of the first homeowners in the 'Trails North Forty', where they built their dream house and lived happily for 25 years.

She was a devoted Lutheran, an active member of the Trails North Forty Homeowner's Association, and the GE Bowling League, where she and Ray won many trophies for their bowling prowess. After her retirement, she greatly enjoyed her monthly GE 'Lunch Bunch' luncheons, and truly cherished the friendships she made at GE. They were also free to travel, which they did often, and fulfilled her lifelong dream of visiting Hawaii.
Claribelle is survived by her daughter, Denise Held of Peachtree Corners, Georgia, her sister-in-law Alma Horvath, of Ormond Beach, and her niece, Rebecca Johansen of White Bear Lake, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Raymond, parents, Edward and Mattie Vogt, and three siblings.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24th at 1:00pm, with visitation one hour prior to services, at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Interment will follow at Daytona Memorial Park.
