A celebration of the life of Christopher Jon Van Wagenen will be held on Friday September 15 2006 at 6:00 p.m. at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond with a reception immediately following the service. Christopher passed away on September 7 2006 at the Hospice Center of Volusia/Flagler surrounded by his longtime friends Jim Wojciechowski and Karen and Bruce Beattie. Born July 7 1955 in Morristown New Jersey to Julius and Elisabeth Van Wagenen Christopher attended the Pingrey School in Hillside New Jersey and Monmouth College in West Long Branch New Jersey. In 1994 Christopher moved to Daytona Beach from Red Bank New Jersey where he owned and operated the Cote Rouge Salon. During his years in New Jersey he was active in many community organizations including the Monmouth Arts Council and Monmouth Day Care Center. Additionally he was the social columnist for the Ashbury Park Press. Upon arrival in Daytona Beach Christopher continued in cosmetology until joining Adams Cameron & Company as a real estate agent in 1997. In addition to his real estate practice Christopher continued in cosmetology for select clients including providing services to Lohman Funeral Homes. A consummate professional Christopher was admired and respected by his colleagues at both Adams Cameron and Lohman?s. Christopher continued his love of the arts and support of those in need as he had done in New Jersey through his involvement with the Wings of Hope Foundation Daytona Beach Area Association of Realtors and Daytona Beach Business Guild. He contributed often and generously to many charitable organizations. Christopher truly enjoyed life and loved sharing his exuberant spirit with his many friends and associates. From his frequent gourmet dinner parties to his annual Kentucky Derby party Christopher was always the consummate host. In addition to entertaining Christopher thoroughly enjoyed foreign travel particularly Italy and transatlantic crossings on the Queen Elizabeth II. Other interests of Christopher included gardening architecture and design for the purpose of creating a beautiful home. Christopher will be missed by all who knew him especially Jim Wojciechowski Bruce and Karen Beattie and Bill Finn all of Daytona Beach. His surviving family includes his parents Julius and Elisabeth Van Wagenen and siblings Candance Fitzpatrick Jeffrey Van Wagenen and Victoria Heidorn. He was especially fond of his nieces and nephews Dr. Aimee Van Wagenen Bethany Van Wagenen Elsa Heidorn Anna Heidorn Cassidy Fitzpatrick Charlie Heidorn and Jameson Fitzpatrick. In lieu of flowers Christopher has requested that in appreciation of the outstanding care and comfort he received from the staff at the Hospice Care Center of Volusia/Flagler in Port Orange 3800 Woodbriar Port Orange 32119 that donations be made on his behalf to them in celebration of his life so that their wonderful work may continue.
