Obituary

A private memorial service is planned for Dr. Christie V. Arno 88 of Daytona Beach who died Friday May 27 2005 at Halifax Medical Center. Dr. Arno was born in Ossining NY in 1916 to poor immigrant parents. He had to quit school to help support his family. He later returned to school and earned his GED. He received his bachelor and master degrees in Colorado and his Ph. D. in psychology in Amsterdam. Dr. Arno proudly served his country in the US Navy aboard the USS Hornet. He taught at Baylor University for a while and also worked at Boys Harbor in Ashville NC and Boys and Girls Harbor in Houston. Dr. Arno was featured in LOOK Magazine in 1957 for his work in psychology and he was the speaker at many service club functions. He was the first motorcycle police officer in Daytona Beach in 1955. Dr. Arno is survived by his wife Janet; a son Rodney of Wasilla Alaska; a daughter Christie Guttridge of Denver; 4 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
