Chesna Pearl (Browell) Whitesell 91 passed out of her earthly existence peacefully and transitioned on to be with her God and her beloved husband Glenn on Sunday September 4 at 3:20 p.m.

Chesna was born on March 21 1920 in Seminole Pennsylvania (Armstrong County). She grew up in rural Pennsylvania graduating from the Indiana Hospital School of Nursing in 1942. She married the love of her life Glenn Everette Whitesell on September 11 1946.

She and Glenn moved to Daytona Beach Florida in 1956 where they made a home to raise their daughter Kathy and she continued her nursing career in the private duty sector for 29 years. Other family members from both sides also moved to Florida around the same time so the extended family spent many years together in the Sunshine State.

In 1991 she and Glenn moved to Flagler Beach to be nearer their daughter. After Glenn passed in 2003 Chesna lived with her daughter Kathy in Flagler Beach for years and then resided at Las Palmas Independent Retirement Home for the last 16 months of her life making friends and becoming a favorite of many due to her sweet nature.

She was a former member of Highlands Presbyterian Church in Daytona Beach and later the Christian Church in Daytona Beach Shores.

Chesna's middle name Pearl was very appropriate for her as she possessed many unique and special qualities. She was an extraordinarily caring woman with a pure heart of love. She was patient kind and dedicated her life to helping others. She was humble and never thought of herself as special but very special she was to her family and friends and the many patients she cared for over her career. She touched many lives in a unique and loving way and was a tremendous help to many people in need throughout her nursing years and beyond. She believed that giving help to and loving others was all that mattered in this life and for her it came very naturally and flowed freely.

Throughout her life Chesna became expert at many hobbies including sewing knitting crocheting embroidering and other needlework projects. She loved jigsaw and word puzzles long into her elder years. She was a avid fan of the Atlanta Braves for many years and rarely missed watching a game.

Chesna passed on to the next life and into God's arms after a sudden illness in the caring and comfortable setting of the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House in Flagler County. She was preceeded in death by her husband and three brothers. She leaves behind a daughter Kathy of Flagler Beach Florida; four nieces - Elizabeth Hause and her family of South Carolina; Grace Nuss and husband Bob and family of Pennsylvania; Janice Jones and family of North Carolina and Tennessee; and Connie Grace and family of Florida. Also two nephews - Edward Browell and wife Judi of Virginia and Randy Whitesell and wife Barbara of south Florida. Chesna had 3 great nieces 6 great nephews 5 great great nieces and 10 great great nephews . She will be greatly missed.

Service will be held at Lohman's Daytona Memorial Park and Funeral Home on Bellevue Avenue in Daytona Beach on Friday September 9 2011 at 12:00 noon. Visitation is 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Stuart F. Meyer Hospice House in Flagler County be considered.
