Obituary

Charles Arlington Tummings, also known as Billy, was born on March 9, 1932 in Kingston, Jamaica at Jubilee hospital to his loving parents, Esther Tummings and Frederick Tummings. He was the 2nd oldest of ten children and maintained a father like role to his younger siblings after the early passing of his father, Frederick. He married the love of his life, Barbara Tummings, on May 24, 1955, and had four beautiful children, Noreen, Barbara, Jannett, and Charles. He moved his family to the United States in 1964 and gained US citizenship in 1969. He had a large role in also helping bring many other family members to the United States, including his mother, Esther. He worked as a machinist for Geo Science Technologies in Mount Vernon, New York where he helped manufacture and maintain lenses for satellites in space. Leaving behind in his legacy is his loving wife, 4 children (two son in laws and 1 daughter in law), 16 grandchildren, 31 great grandchildren, 6 siblings,  and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
His favorite memories included spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and siblings. Some of his favorite moments were when he was sharing laughs and tasty food with his family and friends during the many family events he hosted. He especially enjoyed listening to music and maintaining his beautiful homes. He was known to have the best yard in the neighborhood. Charles was known to be dressed to always impress, he would wear a sweater vest and collared shirt everywhere he went, even to the beach. Charles was honorable man; he was hardworking and dedicated all he had to make sure his family was always taken care of.
