Obituary

Charles Dunn Stinnett 88 of Port Orange Florida died at 5:07 a.m. Friday April 12 2013 at Hospice of Volusia Flagler in Port Orange. He was born January 9 1925 in Barlow Kentucky. He served in the U.S. Army in Germany shortly after World War II and was recalled to service during the Korean War. A graduate of the University of Kentucky where he earned bachelors and master degrees. He retired in 1986 after a career as personnel manager at Standard Products Co. in Lexington KY. He was a Christian an avid fan of sports especially baseball and was an American Contract Bridge League Silver Life Master. He was preceded in death by his parents Charles R. and Verna Dunn Stinnett; his wife of 52 years Alice McGaughey Stinnett; one son James M. Stapp III; one granddaughter Allison Wood Stinnett; and three brothers Roger Glenn and E.B. "Rocky" Stinnett. Survivors include one daughter Claudia Stapp Bartelmay and her husband Greg of Port Orange; one son Chuck Stinnett and his wife Donna of Henderson KY.; and two granddaughters Shari Bartelmay Snider and her husband Mike of White Horse Yukon Territory Canada and Rebecca Anne Stinnett of Henderson KY.;daughter in law Linda Stapp of Ft. Meyer FL; and three great-grandchildren Nora Charles and Roman Snider all of White Horse. Remembrances will be shared by Charlie's family at 3:30 P.M on Sunday April 14 2013 at Cardwell Funeral Home 3571 S. Ridgewood Ave Port Orange. Visitation will begin at 2:00 P.M at Cardwell Funeral Home. A Graveside service will take place at Lexington Cemetery in Lexington Kentucky at a later date. Memorial contributions may take the form of contributions to Hospice of Volusia Flagler 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange FL 32129.
