Charles J. Malaquias Jr. 80 Port Orange passed away on Saturday December 1 2012. A funeral mass will be held Friday December 7 2012 at 8:30 AM at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church 4675 South Clyde Morris Blvd Port Orange. Visitation will be on Thursday December 6 2012 5-7pm at the Funeral Home with a prayer service starting at 6:30pm. Charlie was born in Provincetown MA and helped the family by working on his father's commercial fishing boat. After graduating high school he enlisted in the Air Force serving for 4 years. He attended radio school and later employed by UNIVAC as a computer technician. Driven by a passion for electronics he founded and was CEO of Digital Marine Electronics Corporation in Acton MA which produced navigational equipment for boats and airplanes. After he retired he fulfilled his dream of moving his family to Port Orange FL. He loved airplanes anything electronic reading movies and spending time with his family. He was a beloved husband and father who will be missed dearly. Survivors include his wife of 40 years Diane; two daughters and sons-in-law Claire and Yoshinori Ito of New York City and Ann and Kendrick Kidd of Jacksonville FL; one son and daughter-in-law Jay and Ashley Malaquias of Marietta GA; one sister and brother-in-law Mary and Bill Murphy of Port Orange FL; two brothers and sisters-in-law Ronald and Jean Malaquias of Plymouth MA and Dr. Stephen and Carol Malaquias of Dennis MA. He also leaves his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Russell and Lee Swan of Lowell MA Frank and Linda Beauchesne of Fountain Inn SC Gerard and Lucie Beauchesne of Austin TX and Robert and Louann Beauchesne of Lowell MA; one grandchild Noah Kidd; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother-in-law of the late Penny Malaquias. In lieu of flowers those who wish can make donations to the St. Vincent De Paul Society of Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Port Orange or the Salvation Army in Daytona Beach.
