Charles E. Hamlyn age 86 of Port Orange passed away on Friday November 9th 2012 with his family by his side. He was born on March 29th 1926 in Medford Massachusetts to the late Hilda Blanche Moulton
and Charles Hamlyn Jr. When Charles was six years old he and his
family relocated to Wells Maine where he was raised. Charles served
proudly in the United States Navy during World War II. He was stationed
on a naval ship that traveled many places including Taiwan Shang-Hi
and Hawaii. During his service Charles attended Wentworth Trade
School where he was certified in the maintenance of diesel engines.
Upon his return home Charles worked in the local manufacturing Mill
where he met his wife Marie. He knew there was more in store for him
so he left the Mill and started Hamlyn Brothers Construction Company
with his brother Robert. The business was a great success and the two
brothers specialized in building homes reality and general
construction. He was also founder of Chase and Hamlyn Mineral
Extraction another successful venture for the family. Charles enjoyed
traveling spending time with family and riding motorcycles. He was a
member of the Order of Masons Eagles Trail Blazers and the
Re-treads both in Maine and Florida. He lived life to the fullest and
loved with all of his heart. He will be deeply missed and forever
remembered. Charles is preceded in death by his parents Charles and
Hilda Hamlyn; siblings Harold Hamlyn Margaret Elwell and Thea Lowe.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 ½ years Marie J. (Bilodeau)
Hamlyn; children Richard P. (wife Yvonne) Hamlyn of Wells Maine
Carol (husband Gary) Crocker of Port Orange Charles D. (wife
Dorothy) Hamlyn of Wells Maine; grandchildren Charles B. (wife
Sarah) Hamlyn Dawna (husband Steve) Gagne Adam Hamlyn Scott
Crocker Dawn Johnson and eight great grandchildren. Charles also
leaves behind his loving siblings; Robert Hamlyn Franklin Hamlyn
Donald Hamlyn Melva Lovell Dorothy Walker and EdnaMcKenny. In lieu
