A Funeral Service for Charles L. Goulder 63 of Daytona Beach Fl. who passed away at his residence on March 7 2009 will be held at 2:00pm Thursday March 12 2009 at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 West Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach with Burial to follow at Daytona Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 12:00 to 2:00pm prior to Service. "As long as the music is playing we will be dancing" started 5 months ago with a courageous battle against liver cancer and ended March 7 when he went home to be with our Heavenly Father. As a young man of 8 years old Chuck sold newspaper on weekends in addition to having a regular paper route after school in Adrian Michigan. During his teenage years he held many jobs including working in orange groves and a funeral home. In 1959-1966 he was a Disc Jockey for WVGT Mt. Dora WBIL Leesburg and WHOO 99 Orlando. He graduated in 1963 from Mount Dora High School. He began his career with the Orlando Fire Dept. in 1966 riding the trucks at Station 1. In 1972 He was promoted to Lieutenant. In 1981 he was promoted to District Chief of Communications. He and his team orchestrated the design of the 911 emergency system as well as all telecommunicators becoming EMT'S and then sponsoring the EMD program. Chuck was the city's Liaison for the design of the first enhanced 911 systems in the United States. As Chief of Communication he was responsible for helping forge the way for women in fire service. In 1973 there were only 2 women in the Communications Center. Chuck changed that and began hiring women and promoted many along the way. He was a very outspoken advocate for his employees and worked hard to make sure all had the proper training and most up to date state of the art equipment. He authored communication policy and operational manuals for OFD. Today many have been patterned and still used in facilities such as ORMC. Chuck was a very detailed person and saw to the smallest detail and did much to advance the safety of firefighters as well as individuals in crisis until he retired in 1992. In 1993 he went to work for ORMC as Communication Manager. After a long career spent saving lives through Communications he decided to work for Walt Disney World as a Guest Service Manager in MGM Studios until 1999. He resided in Orlando for the past 35 years until shortly after his illness when he and Pam moved to Daytona Beach to their dream home on the beach. He is preceded in death by his mother Francis Goulder and Arnold Goulder. He is survived by his wife of 8 years Pamela (Burns) Goulder; His daughter; Tammy Goulder-Horne (Ken) of CT.; Step Son; Brandon Burns Sister; Suzy Moss of Miami; Brother; Brooke (Suzanne) Goulder of Mt. Dora. 3 Grandchildren; Bobby Weiner Stephanie Weiner and Chris Weiner. 3 Great-Grandchildren; Dylan Michelle & Kaylin.
