Charles Bruce Goodrich passed away early Thursday morning December 16 2010; he turned 93 on October 20th of this year. Visitation will take place Tuesday December 28 2010 1-2pm and a 2pm memorial service will immediately follow at Baggett and Summers Funeral Home Chapel. 736 S. Beach St. Daytona Beach Fl. Mr. Goodrich grew up on a farm in Davison MI with five brothers and sisters. He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in engineering as did his grandfather son and one of his daughters. As a member of the R.O.T.C. he was commissioned in the U.S. Army as a Second Lieutenant. While stationed in Sydney Australia during WWII he fell in love and married Phyllis Harriet Tooth who was secretary to the General to whom Bruce reported. When the war ended Bruce and Phyllis settled in Huntington WV where they reared three children and Bruce began his 42 year career at Huntington Alloys of the International Nickel Company. Serving in many capacities he was Chief of Special Projects in Huntington Plant Manager in Bernaugh KY and President of Canadian Alloys in Sudbury Ontario Canada. During these years he registered eleven patents and was honored to finish his career at INCO Headquarters in New York City.
Following retirement Bruce and Phyllis moved to Daytona Beach FL and resided at Pelican Bay along with many long-time friends from their Huntington days. Phyllis died in 2001 ending their special 56 year marriage. In 2003 Bruce found love a second time and married lovely Bette Burkett two days before his 86th birthday. Mr. Goodrich is survived by Bette son Charles (Janey) daughters Laura (Dan) and Peta; 6 amazing grandchildren and 3 precious great grandchildren.
