On Saturday, November 7th, 2020, Charles Leslie Gentry went to be with the Lord, surrounded by love in Ormond Beach, Florida. Chuck was born in 1943 to Roland and Thelma (Roudenbush) Gentry in Louisville, Kentucky.Chuck is survived by his loving wife of 30 years, Eileen, and his two daughters, Leslie (Peter) and Lori. He also has two stepchildren, Amy and Chad (Megan) and three grandchildren, Chloe, P.J., and Evelyn. He is also survived by two brothers, Jim (Marlene) and Ralph (Carol), and one sister Doris (preceded by Jerry).Chuck served in the Navy and then went on to receive his Teaching and Master's degrees from Indiana State University. He was an educator and also served in the Air National Guard, both for over 30 years, in Terre Haute, Indiana. Mr. Gentry was celebrated as the Teacher of the Year numerous times.Chuck and Eileen moved to Ormond Beach, Florida in 2003, where they have been active members of the First Baptist Church of Palm Coast. Chuck's priority has always been his family, followed by his love of teaching. He also enjoyed long walks (often times at 4 am for 3 hours), working in his yard, playing in his garage, the New York Yankees, the Purdue Boilermakers and most importantly, spending time with God. As his granddaughter Chloe said, "The Lord is lucky to have him."In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the St. Jude Foundation, Wounded Warrior Project or Shriner's Hospital for Children.
