A memorial service for Charles Robert ?Bob? Beck 89 of Rosalyn Ave. Daytona Beach who died August 29 2004 will be held at Saturday September 11 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Baggett & Summers Funeral Home. Mr. Beck was born in Greensburg PA and moved to this area in 1947 from Ellwood City PA.

Mr. Beck was employed by the News-Journal for more than 25 years until his retirement as Comptroller in 1977. He previously co-owned two service stations and a store at the corner of Main St. and Hollywood Ave.

In the early days he enjoyed hunting and fishing. Later his passion was traveling he visited Mexico Canada Europe and 49 states all but S. Dakota. He especially loved Alaskan cruises which he enjoyed several times.

Mr. Beck is survived by his wife Ann; son Fred and daughter-in-law Betty of Deland; daughter Nancy and son-in-law Barry Stewart of Pembroke Pines; brother Roy of Greenville NC; grandchildren Dawn and Terri Beck and great-grandchildren Jordan and Braden all of Ormond Beach; Marylyn and husband John of Flagler.

Stepsons: Jerry and wife Joanne Penny of Daytona Beach; Chris and wife Donna Penny of South Daytona; step-daughters JoAnn and husband Jim Valenti of Ponte Vedra; Ginger and husband Bill Ottinger of Deltona; Carol and husband Bill Smith of Ormond Beach; John of Flagler Beach.

He was preceded in death by is wife of 63 years Flora and sons Terry and Larry.
