Catherine Elizabeth Smith Mojock, 68, an unforgettable, inspirational and deeply loved wife of Chuck, mother, nonnie, sister, aunt and friend passed peacefully on May 28, 2023 at 12:28 a.m. Cathy and Chuck were married on August 7, 1976. She was matriarch of her family of three sons who married the 'daughters' she always wanted and gave her five grandchildren that she adored:

Christopher Dylan, 43, wife Suzi and daughters Dylan, Cameron and Evan all of Athens, GA: Matthew Charles, 40 and wife Jordan of Tallahassee, FL and Jonathan Raymond, 35, wife Tree and children Tyis and Ayda of Green Bay, WI.

During her epic six and a half year battle with cancer, she confronted each stage of her illness with courage and determination to be there for her family's special times and occasions through the years. Known and celebrated as a hostess, especially for amazing holiday parties replete with decorations, abundant food and delicious home baked cookies, Cathy was most at home in the kitchen, attending to every detail and directing productions like an orchestra conductor. She also loved sewing and quilting and was known to create decorative and unique gifts (a Cathy Mojock design original ) for family and friends. If you mentioned that you liked something you were sure to have it show up on your next birthday or even for no reason at all.

Cathy was a strong, confident and resourceful woman but she was also a person of deep faith and a big heart. Her strength and compassion drew people to her and she acted as "second mom" or big sister to a number of people who sought her advice and counsel. You could rest assured that she would give it to you straight even when it was something tough to hear. But the advice always came with love and respect for the person that you were.

For Cathy, it was always family first. It was her house where the kids would hang out - probably because she fed them! And, she was the ultimate team mom, the first to volunteer to chaperone, make snacks and cheer everybody on. Cathy loved traveling with Chuck and the two enjoyed many adventures from cross country USA road trip to cruises and trips to Europe. The culmination of their journeys was a two week stay in Tuscany, Italy in the summer of 2022 with their sons, their spouses and the grandkids. Viva famiglia! She also loved music, singing along loud and proud to her favorite songs. And if there was a dance floor, you can be assured that the "Dancing Queen" and Chuck would be cutting it up!

Cathy spent most of her career working for the Catholic Church. As she used to say, "the pay isn't good but the retirement benefits are out of this world!" She started as a volunteer and earned Master's level certificates in youth ministry and pastoral ministry from Loyola University, New Orleans. Cathy became recognized as a leader in the Rites of Christian Initiation of Adults and Children movements at Epiphany Catholic Church and at St Ann's where she later served as Administrator.

Cathy was born and raised in Baltimore MD, the eldest daughter of Frederick R. Smith and Virginia M. Lambert Smith, both deceased. She graduated from Randallstown Senior High School in 1973 where she was active in cheerleading and student government. She is survived by her siblings:

Patricia Marie (Patty) Hedlund and husband Robert of Conway, SC; Raymond Frederick Smith and wife Terry of Lancaster SC; and Scott Frederick Smith and wife Vivian of Baltimore, MD; step-sister Deborah Gemuendt and husband Jeff of BelAir, MD; and beloved step-mom, Vivian Smith of Nottingham, MD
