C atherine Stelljes Lawrence , 89, formerly of Jacksonville, FL, died peacefully on April 9, 2018, at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia. Catherine was born in Savannah, GA on November 20, 1928 as youngest of six children born to Johann Stelljes and Friederike Rauer Stelljes. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, William M Lawrence, Sr. She was the last of her siblings to depart this life.  Catherine was a faithful and caring wife, sweet sister, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was encouraged by loving family and by friends she kept from grade school years.  Catherine's resumed a career in mortgage services with SWD and retired from Bank Boston in 1991. She was a member of St Matthew's Lutheran Church in Jacksonville for 55 years before attending Faith Presbyterian Church, Gainesville, FL while residing with her son and his wife.  Survivors include William M. Lawrence, Jr. (Barbara) Daphne L Posey (Alan) and Cynthia M. Lawrence (Jill), six grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 2 nephews and 4 nieces. Memorial Service will be held at Lohman Funeral Home, 220 Palm Coast Parkway, SW, Palm Coast, FL 32137 at 1 PM on Wednesday 18 April, 2018. Interment at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 315 Greenwich Rd, Savannah, GA 31404 will be arranged for a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, Ormond Care Center, 235 Booth Road, Ormond Beach, FL 32174.  Condolences may be shared with the family here on our online guestbook.
