A Funeral Mass for our dear mom Catherine Devenny of Ormond Beach who entered into the Lord's loving care on February 28 2009 will be held on Friday March 6 2009 at 10:00am at The Prince of Peace Catholic Church 600 S. Nova Rd Ormond Beach FL with Father Richard Grasso officiating. Family and friends are invited to join them for visitation on Thursday March 5 2009 from 5:30pm to 7:30pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach FL. Catherine was born September 12 1922 in Philadelphia PA. She married George Acton who predeceased her after 27 years of marriage and seven children. Four years later in a match made by God Catherine married John J. Devenny and joined his three children with hers for a long loving life of 37 years. After living in New Jersey for most of their lives John and Catherine moved to Ormond Beach in June of 1979. Catherine was a member of the Fire Department Ladies' Auxiliary and Saturday Nighters social club in New Jersey. She has an avid passion for playing cards. In Ormond Beach she was an active member in the Newcomers Club and Palmetto Club; and volunteered for the Library for the blind. She and John enjoyed traveling throughout the United States and Europe.Of all her passions in life she treasured most the time she spent with husband John and their 10 children 27 grandchildren and 45 great-grandchildren. Catherine and John's loving children include: Marge Allison and her husband Tom with their two children and six grandchildren; Hilda Roche and her husband Phil with their two children and four grandchildren; Pete Acton and his wife Gail with their four children and five grandchildren; John Devenny and his wife Sue with their two children and two grandchildren; Dianne Acton and her husband Wil Mozingo with their five children and twelve grandchildren; Kathy Myers and her husband Steve with their two children and six grandchildren; Kathy Banks and her husband Gary with their three children and five grandchildren; Bill Acton and his three children; John Acton and his wife Patti with their three children and five grandchildren; Stephen Acton and his life-partner Larry Creech.Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
