OAKES, Carol Jean

August 14, 1932 ~ May 28, 2021

Carol Jean Oakes, 88, of Daytona Beach, Florida, passed away on May 28, 2021 at her residence in Daytona Beach, Florida surrounded by her loving family.  She was born on August 14, 1932 in Freeport, Illinois to the late Emerson and Grace Cain.  Carol attended High School and College in Freeport and then married Robert Oakes in 1951.  She lived in Verona, Wisconsin until 1969 when she moved to Daytona Beach.  Carol retired from International Speedway Corporation after over 30 years.  She was a member of Central Baptist Church.  Carol enjoyed crafts and made an impact on people's lives with her sweet gentle nature.

Survivors include her three children, Lauren Baggerson of Daytona Beach, FL, Robert (Donna) Oakes of St.  Louis and Daniel Oakes of Daytona Beach;  six grandchildren, Brian Beane of Daytona Beach, FL, Kristin Oakes of Macon, GA, Lacey Fitzgivens of Daytona Beach, Robert Baggerson of Daytona Beach, Katie Fitzgivens of Daytona Beach and Daniel Saunders of CO; and Nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her daughter, Anita Saunders as well as her parents and her brother, Robert Cain.

The Family will be receiving friends from 11:00am until 1:00pm on Thursday June 10, 2021 with a Celebration of Life Service being held at 1:00pm all at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, FL 32114.
