Carol Heins Hall, age 84, passed away on March 29, 2018 under hospice care at La Casa Assisted Living in Merritt Island, FL. She was born Carol Ruth David on Dec. 15 th , 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to the late William J. David Jr. and Bernadette Blair David. She married the late Travis H. Heins on June 11, 1955.
Carol graduated from the University of Miami in 1955 and was an elementary school teacher in Jacksonville. She became President of the Volusia County chapter of the American Cancer Society (ACS) after losing her husband Travis to cancer in 1972. It was there she met her loving husband of 35 years, the late James B. Hall, who had also lost his spouse to cancer. Carol and James (Jim) married on April 2, 1977. Carol was a long time resident of Daytona and was very active in the community. In addition to her work with the ACS, she was on the board of Epiphany Manor, served as a Eucharistic minister at Epiphany Catholic Church, and sponsored a young man, Rudi Cleare, through seminary school in honor of their son, Chip. Carol volunteered as a tutor for the adult literacy program, and was active in the Panhellenic, Garden, and Halifax Yacht clubs. She and Jim loved to travel, snow-ski, play bridge, and entertain friends and family in their riverfront home, fondly known as 'Hall House".
Carol was the loving mother of the late Chip Heins, the late Karl Heins, Kathi (Terry) Neuhart, James L. Hall, Dennis (Susan) Hall, Lance (Linda) Hall, and Bonnie (Allan) Moore. She was the caring Grandmother (Mimmi) of Jennifer, J.D., Abby, Andrew, Matthew, Alaina, Aimee, Chloe, and great-grandmother of Tre`, Taylor, Brie, Jonah, Jetson, and Ari. Carol was the loving sister of the late Elaine (and late Robert) Rowe and the late William J. (Josephine) David III. She was the loving Aunt Carol to the late Bobby Rowe, Susan (Steve) Schultz, Theresa (Bill) Scanlon, and Donna (Wes) Ashenfelter, Barbara Walser, and Marilyn Bishock.
The visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 4th from 5:00- 7:00 PM at Lohman Funeral Home Port Orange, 1201 Dunlawton Ave. The funeral mass in her honor will follow on Thursday, April 5th at 11:00 AM at Church of the Epiphany, 201 Lafayette Street, Port Orange FL. The burial will be at Volusia Memorial Park in Ormond Beach.
