Dr. Carol Joan Costello Esq. 69 of South Daytona formerly of Boston Massachusetts passed away unexpectedly on Saturday January 22nd 2011 surrounded by her loving children.
The family will receive guests for a memorial gathering on Tuesday January 25th 2011 at Cardwell Funeral Home from 6pm to 8pm. A Mass of Resurrection will be held on Wednesday January 26th at The Basilica of St. Paul Catholic Church beginning at 9am 317 Mullally Street Daytona Beach.
Carol was born in Boston Massachusetts on May 30 1941 to Margaret (MacDonald) Costello and James G. Costello. Carol's career began in nursing in 1962 and she subsequently earned degrees in Medicine and Law. Carol was working with veterans at the Department of Veterans Affairs in St. Augustine FL at the time of her death. She enjoyed reading shopping and keeping active.
Carol is preceded in death by two of her sisters Phyllis Ann Mantia and Delores Maria Maunsell both of South Daytona FL.
She is survived by her four children daughter Tracy J. Young Content of Freehold NY; daughter Chief Petty Officer Jodi A. Hanlon McWilliams United States Navy of Loxley AL; her sons Thomas J. Giannattasio Jr. and Joseph D. Giannattasio of Palm Coast FL. She leaves behind four cherished grandchildren; 2LT Stephanie Ann Hanlon U.S. Army National Guard Michael Christopher Hanlon Josephine Marie Content and Alexandrine Marie Content. She also leaves behind her sister Donandrea Costello (Quattrocchi) Esq. Of Norwood MA and many nephews and nieces.
