Carlos Manuel Gonzalez, Sept. 2, 1925 - Sept 10, 2016, Carlos passed away suddenly, and peacefully at home with Clara by his side.

A Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 in the chapel at Lohman Funeral Home Daytona. The Graveside Service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at Daytona Memorial Park, 1425 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach.

Carlos was born in Jaguey Grande, Cuba.

Carlos is survived by 2 sisters in Havana, Cuba. Pastora Gonzalez (Osvaldo), and Flora Gonzalez. His 2 brothers, Miguel and Bernardo Gonzalez are deceased. Carlos met the love of his life Clara Reyes and they married in Sept. 29, 1954, 62 years ago. He has one son Carlos Jr (Charley), wife Joni, children Carlos III, and Gabrielle.

Carlos decided to leave Cuba and move himself & bride to Daytona Beach Florida in 1955. He went to work in the Tropic's Restaurant in Ormond Beach for his Uncle Sammy Rodriguez. Carlos and Clara both worked hard in the restaurant business. He became a Chef and he and Clara ran several beachside restaurants. They moved to Miami for 2 years where he was the chef at the Rivera and Doral Country Clubs. With his love of Daytona Beach they returned and he went to work as the Chef at Ormond Countryside Country Club.

In 1982 he and his son Charley opened Stereotypes Home Theater Store, Carlos and Clara would come and work at Stereotypes daily. It wasn't uncommon to be invited for Cuban coffee and food. You would hear stories of their travels back to Cuba, by ferry out of Key West. Stories of American cars he took to Havana to sell. On these trips Carlos would replenish his supply of Cuban Cigars for the next few months. Carlos was always a serious businessman at heart. But what he loved the most in life was Clara, Charley, and his 2 grandchildren. They are his proudest accomplishments in life.
