Carl Edward Vaughn 85 passed away in Ormond Beach Florida on September 29 2010. Carl was born in Cleveland Tennessee on September 14 1925 and was the son of Wesley and Dora (Green) Vaughn. Carl served in Battery B of the 730th Field Artillery Battalion of the 75th Infantry Division in Europe during World War II and was honorably discharged. For the majority of his career he did quality assurance engineering work in the aerospace industry. He worked for Ryan Aircraft and for Chrysler Missile on the Redstone project before moving to Huntsville Alabama in 1958 where he worked for the Army Missile Command. He traveled extensively in the U.S. and abroad in connection with his work for the Army Missile Command and received numerous commendations for his performance before retiring in 1986 with more than 28 years of service. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Mary; son Michael Vaughn (Jan); daughter Leslie Walker (Sam); sister-in-law Pat Vaughn; three grandchildren Mike Lee (Kim) Carrie Lockhart (Glenn) Chris Lee (Amanda); two great-grand-children Jacob Lee and Gemma Lockhart; and numerous nieces nephews and other extended family members. Carl was preceded in death by his parents his two brothers Leonard and Herman and two sisters Mildred and Jenny. A family memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of the giver's choice.
