Carl M. Shumate Jr. 81 of Ormond Beach FL passed away on May 6 2012 at Avante of Ormond Beach FL. A visitation will be held on Wednesday; May 9th between the hours of 4:30 -8:00 pm at Lohman Funeral Home; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach.

Carl was born on June 6 1930 in Whiteford Maryland to Carl and Nellie (Berryman) Shumate. He was then raised in N. Wilkesboro NC then back to Baltimore MD and in 1992 he and Lillian called Ormond Beach their home. Carl was an industrial/commercial painter his entire life; he was a member of Painter's Union Local 1 for 61 years a member of the Moose Elks Lodge # 2193 and the Eagles # 3800 where he held the position of Inside Guard. Carl was the number one fan of the Baltimore Orioles and the Baltimore Ravens; he also enjoyed sitting back and enjoying his country music.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years Lillian M. Shumate his son Carl M. Shumate and his daughter Carol M. Shumate her significant other Manny Couturiaux all of Ormond Beach by his brother Henry Wayne Shumate Pasadena MD and his sister Beatrice "Boots" Brewer Charlotte NC by his two grandchildren Nicole L. Baldwin and Brittany N. Elgin as well as his great-Grandchildren A.J. Baldwin and Alexa L. Grimmette. He was preceded in death by his parents Carl and Nellie.
