Carl Andrew "Andy" Murray of Deland passed away on Sunday February 26 2012. He was born and raised in DeLand by his parents Harold and his late mother Jeannette. He is also pre-deceased by his brother Douglas of Tennessee and is survived by his father Harold a sister Linda Sanson of Lake Mary brother; Jack of DeLand a daughter; Samantha of Jacksonville a stepson; Jason Rake of Deland and his beloved shepherd dog; Tasha. Andy was a concrete finishing supervisor having worked many large projects for Sea World Target and Embry Riddle University. In addition he was a surveyor welder and amateur archeologist having spent a lot of time at the springs and rivers throughout the southern states looking for Indian artifacts gems and minerals. He was an award winning competitor in dirt bike racing and an avid student of the Cherokee language and Indian history. A funeral service will be held at the Deland Chapel of the Lohman Funeral Homes on Thursday 03/01 at 1:00 PM. The visitation will be Wed. 02/29 5:00 - 7:00 PM.
