Carl Friebis' Obituary
Carl William Friebis passed from this life to Eternal Life on March 10 2004 and now resides in the hearts and minds of those who knew and loved him. An avid car enthusiast he proudly displayed over 100 model cars in his den. Carl was a skilled mechanic who scored a perfect 100% in jet propulsion testing. His extensive knowledge of engines and mechanics allowed him to keep his cars in showroom new condition.
Carl was born in Marion Township Columbus Ohio. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the European Theater. After four years with the US Army he attended Ohio State University.
He married his wife Jean and together they moved to Florida Daytona Beach in 1958 where he became a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 295 Daytona Beach. Carl was a member of St. Brendan Roman Catholic Church for more than 42 years forging lifelong relationships and friendships there.
He embarked on a career which included building launch pad cooling systems at Cape Canaveral numerous condos and hotels along the Daytona shoreline as well as a number of power and nuclear power plants throughout Florida and Tennessee. Carl left his mark on Central Florida when he helped install the piping in the Tiki Room at Walt Disney World which allowed the birds and animated tikis to come to life using water-driven devices. He may have best been known as the ?Scotty?s Answer Man ? helping hundreds of customers to resolve their building project problems.
Carl is survived by his wife Jean of 52 years and their 3 sons: Michael Beth of Howell NJ; Patrick Cheppy of Cranford NJ; and Daniel Kimberley of Port Orange FL; and 6 grandchildren: Matthew Jenna Corey Sabrina Kyrstin and Jilian.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler 3800 Woodbriar Trail Port Orange FL 32129.
The family will be present for visitation on Monday March 15 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. Prayers will be said at 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at St. Brendan Roman Catholic Church on Tuesday March 16 at 10:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Daytona Memorial Park.
