A Celebration of Life for Carl E. Benson 89 of Ormond Beach will be held on Wednesday January 30 2008 at 5:00 PM at Lohman Funeral Home Chapel 733 W. Granada Blvd. His family is inviting friends for visitation on Wednesday from 4 PM until 5 PM. Carl died Saturday January 26 2008 at The Halifax Medical Center Daytona Beach. Surviving him are 2 sons Doug Benson Ormond Beach Greg Benson and his wife Tracey Ormond Beach a daughter Joan Anderson and her husband Ron Ormond Beach 3 grandchildren Valerie Anderson Nicholas and Danielle Benson all of Ormond Beach. He was predeceased by his oldest daughter Christine Hall. He was born September 13 1918 in Gothenburg Sweden. His family came to New York City in 1924 when Carl was 6 years old. Carl became a Pilot after training with the Civilian Pilot Training Program. Afterwords he worked as a Pilot for Pan Am for 36 years. During WW II he flew as a Navy Contract Pilot while employed by Pan Am. Throughout his career he flew aircraft ranging from the B-314 flyingboat up to the Boeing-707. He married Margaret Viola Tranberg September 25 1943. She predeceased him April 14 2000. He enjoyed sailing boating woodworking and pencil sketching. He was a loving husband father and grandfather and will be greatly missed.
