Captain Howard W. Fleming passed away on August 3, 2022 at his home in New Smyrna Beach. He was surrounded by the love of his beloved daughter, caregiver and best friend, Tara Feldman and his beautiful, loving granddaughter, whom he affectionately called "Little Tara". Howard was born on November 18, 1925. He was the son of Albert and Ester McDonald Fleming. Howard served his country by joining the Army Air Corps. He was in the first transitional class (48C), of the branch we now know as the Air Force. He had a silk map of Russia in his flight suit, which he used to study so he could become familiar with the terrain. Howard was married to his loving wife, Mona Toolaln. They were married for over 57 years.

After his time in the service, he majored in engineering and served as a pilot for Eastern Airlines, logging over 33 thousand flight hours before he retired. Captain Howard met Joe DiMaggio in his childhood and they played baseball together before Joe became famous. He also had the opportunity to play basketball with the Harlem Globetrotters. Howard was an avid reader. He loved the newspapers, books, magazines and any other content he could obtain to further his knowledge. He also enjoyed watching the news to stay abreast of current events.

Howard was preceded in death by his beloved, Mona; his parents, Albert and Ester McDonald Fleming; brother, Vernon Fleming and his son, William Fleming. He is survived by seven children, four grandchildren, Brittany Feldman, Gracee Rose Feldman, Aaron Feldman, Little Tara Feldman and one great-grandson, whom he affectionately called Rambo.

Captain Howard was a gentle soul and his presence will be dearly missed by those who love and cherish his memories.
