Obituary

Calvert Sylvester Davis was born on August 12, 1926, to Joshua Davis and Gwendolyn Browne in Belmont, Trinidad and Tobago, West Indies.  He was the oldest of 11 children.  He attended St. Margaret's Boys School in Belmont, where he was a track star and John Donaldson Institute in Port of Spain, Trinidad, where he completed his auto mechanic course.  He then worked as an auto mechanic at Neil and Massey car dealership In Trinidad.
Calvert met Jocelyn Nelson in 1965 in Trinidad.  He emigrated from Trinidad to Brooklyn, New York in 1968.  Calvert and Jocelyn got married in 1968 at St Peter Claver Church in Brooklyn, New York.  This marriage produced their only daughter, Carlyn, in 1970.
He first worked for Pan American (Pan Am) Airlines, then worked for New York Telephone (later known as AT&T) for over 20 years.
Calvert and Jocelyn then retired to Daytona Beach, Florida in 1995.  During their retirement he volunteered in many organizations including AARP chapter 386, Sophisticated Seniors and Dickerson Center Seniors.
He was an avid traveler and loved to take cruises.  He and his wife has travelled to Alaska, Italy, Israel, Greece and numerous Caribbean islands.
He was a devout Episcopalian and was a member in good standing at St Marks Church in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, New York and St Mary's Episcopal Church in Daytona Beach, Florida, where he was an usher and choir member.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 54 years, Jocelyn Davis, brothers George Davis, Kenneth Browne, Hayden, Junior, Herbert, Lennox, sisters Barbara Browne and Sandra Browne; grandson Alain Jabouin Jr.
He is survived by his daughter Carlyn Jabouin and her husband Alain, his sister Jemma Grandison (Canada) his brothers Keith Browne (Canada), David (Trinidad and Tobago), his niece Maria Taylor-Montano (Canada), cousins Hazel Hyacinth, Angela Gentile, his church family and many, many dear friends.
