Obituary

Funeral Services for Bruno Socha 91 of Port Orange who died on April 4 2008 will be held 1 pm Wednesday April 9 at the Port Orange Chapel of Lohman Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 11 am until 1 pm. Bruno was born May 16 1916 in Kosbody Poland. He was the youngest of four children born to Pawel and Anastazii Socha. During WWII he served in the 2nd Polish Corps under General Anders and had tours of duty in Monte Casino Italy the Middle East and North Africa. While recuperating from a battle wound Bruno met and later married Joan a young nurse in England. They immigrated to Yonkers New York in the early 50's where they raised five children. Upon Bruno's retirement in the early 70's he and Joan moved to the Daytona Beach area. During the 35 years they lived in Florida Bruno was active in the Polish community and dancing at the Pulaski Club on Sundays was one of his favorite activities. Bruno is survived by his loving wife of 61 years Joan; three daughters Christine McEneny of Redbank New Jersey Margaret Socha of Port Orange and Joan Kinder of Port Orange; two sons Bernard Socha of Cudjoe Key and Kenneth Socha of New Smyrna Beach; seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made in honor of Bruno to Odyssey Hospice. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.lohmanfuneralhomes.com.
