Obituary

Bruce Murray passed away after a period of illness on Sunday August 04 2013.

He was born in Massachusetts on July 27 1936 to the late Fred and Ruth Morrison Murray and grew up in Cape Elizabeth Maine the eldest of three children. He was a 1954 graduate of Cape Elizabeth High School and the Harvard Business School Class of 1966. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1954-1957. He and Eleanor Wahl were married in South Portland in 1963 and had a long and loving marriage having just celebrated 50 years together. They lived in Bangor Waterville Falmouth and South Freeport Maine as well as Cambridge. Mass. He was employed by IBM Keyes Fibre Ernst and Ernst and Bancroft and Martin. He and his wife Ellie also owned two businesses together. They first came to Spruce Creek Fly-In in 1986.
The high points of their lives were not only their jobs but their times together especially sailing. They loved the memories of 10 years of cruising in their sail boats and were proud of the Atlantic crossings. He loved the southbound trips from Maine to Florida in the Intracoastal Waterway and the many historic towns they visited. He was an avid historian and together he and Ellie visited virtually all of the Civil War Battlefields and 7 Presidential Libraries.
He was an active member of Spruce Creek Country Club having served on its Board of Governors. He enjoyed his friends intellectual challenges bridge golf creating videos on his computer and entertaining friends. He dearly loved the State of Maine and especially Penobscot Bay. He was respected for his strong moral compass; and all who knew him were impressed with his personal and professional high ethical standards.
He is survived by his wife Ellie; his sister Brenda Murray Wall of Riverview FL; his brother Thomas Dwight Murray of Winchester VA; and his many nieces and nephews.
