Funeral services for Broughton Broc Canup 88 Flamingo Dr. Holly Hill who died Tuesday August 01 2006 at home will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday August 5 2006 at First Baptist Church Daytona Beach with Dr. Bobby Welch officiating. Burial will be in Daytona Memorial Park. Calling hours will be Friday August 4 2006 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Baggett and Summers Funeral Home.
Mr. Canup was born in Habersham County Georgia and moved to this area in 1948 from Brevard North Carolina. He graduated from Rabun Gap ? Nacoochee School Rabun Gap Georgia in 1938 and Mary Karl Voc. Tech. after moving to this area. A master plumber he worked for Ruland Brothers Plumbing and from the Plumbers Local Union #295. He retired from Halifax Medical Center in 1983.
A World War II Veteran he served in the Navy as Quartermaster 1/C aboard LST #31 in the Pacific Theater.
He was an active member of First Baptist Church for over 55 years serving the Lord as a Sunday School teacher Baptist Training Union leader Deacon was involved in Evangelism Explosion and F.A.I.T.H Evangelism Training and also served on committees including Baptismal Lord?s Supper Nominating New Members and House & Grounds.
Broc was the fifth of eight siblings and is survived by his wife of 50 years Bernice three daughters ? Bunny Wing Ron Ormond Beach; Karen Puckett Stan Orange Park; Kimberly Canup Holly Hill; four grandchildren ? Amanda Wing Foster Eric Fort Myers; Cameron Wing Daytona Beach; David Puckett and Kimberly Puckett Orange Park; two great-grandchildren ? Will and Ewan Foster Fort Myers; one sister ? Bernice C. Ruland Daytona Beach; and numerous nieces and nephews that were so special to him and his beloved Church family.
Honorary Pallbearers will be the past and present Deacons of First Baptist Church.
