Our Brian Sydney Jones passed away peacefully on Thursday July 25 ^th surrounded by his loving family, after a long and valiant battle with illness. Brian was born in Newnham, England on December 29 ^th , 1942. Growing up in postwar England helped Brian forge a tenacious spirit, a strong work ethic and an unflappable sense of humor that came to define him throughout his life. It was in the small town of Kenilworth, England where he met the love and partner of his life Carol. After earning his apprenticeship as a machine tool engineer, Brian went on to spend much of the 1960' and 70's in Rhodesia and South Africa honing his trade and traveling the continent before eventually immigrating to the United States in 1980. Brian immediately claimed America as his home, eventually becoming a citizen in 1995, one of his proudest days.

Brian settled his family in Ormond Beach, Florida where he enjoyed spending time at the beach, working on his car and home, and relaxing with friends and family. After nearly 50 years in the machine tool industry, Brian finally and begrudgingly retired in 2008 after his battle with illness forced him to do so. Brian possessed a wily sense of humor and quick wit that made him the life of any gathering and often left those around him rolling with laughter. His love for laughter was only surpassed by his love for his wife, children and granddaughters Ella and Emerson. Brian's heart tripled in size with the births of his granddaughters, and he was never happier than when he had one of them in his arms.

Brian is survived by his wife Carol, son Martin Jones of Capetown, South Africa, son Matthew Collins and daughter in law Maree Collins of Ormond Beach, daughter Shelley O'Regan and son-in law Alan O'Regan of Ormond Beach, and granddaughters Ella Collins and Emerson O'Regan.

A service of remembrance will be celebrated on Saturday August 3 ^rd at 11:30 am, followed by a gathering in the reception hall. The family will receive friends beginning at 11am at Lohman Funeral Home, 733 West Granada Blvd, Ormond Beach. In lieu of flowers, we ask that memorial contributions be made in Brian's memory either to the American Heart Association or National Kidney Fund.
