Brenda Louise Bartow entered into eternal rest on February 1, 2017 in Port Orange Florida at Halifax Health Hospice of Volusia /Flagler County. Born Marh 10, 1947, she was the oldest daughter of the late Sammie Lee Woody and Leslie Wallace. Brenda was born in Ft. Gaines, Georgia and at the age of two moved to Daytona Beach, Florida. She was educated in the Volusia County Public School System and graduated from Campbell Sr. High in 1965. After high school, she attended Daytona Beach Community College where she studied Business Administration. Upon completion of her studies at DBJC, she relocated to Vauxhall, New Jersey where she began working as a Circuit Layout Assigner for New Jersey Bell now known as Verizon. Brenda would go on to complete an outstanding career of 35 years, retiring as a Facilities Engineer in 2005. While in New Jersey, she met and married Sidney Ernest Koonce who preceded her in death. Born of this union was her only child, Sharmane Ernese Koonce.
Brenda was an avid reader, enjoyed crocheting, doing cross word puzzles and was an exceptional cook. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and aunt who is dearly loved and will be forever be missed. She is survived by her husband, Jerome E. Bartow Jr., her daughter, Sharmane E. Koonce, her father, William W. Woody Sr., three sisters, Elizabeth A. Fennell, Ruby D. Woody, Beatrice A Woody, three brothers, Willie W. Woody Jr., Ron E. Woody, Carlos L. Woody.
A Celebration of Life will be held at Allen Chapel A.M.E. Church, 580 George W Engram Blvd., Daytona Beach, Florida on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at 10:00 am. Visitation will be held at Lohman Funeral Home, Daytona Beach, Florida, 1423 Bellevue Avenue, Daytona Beach, Florida on Tuesday February 7, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
