Bobbie Jean Anderegg passed away on March 3. One of eight children, Bobbie was always happy to let people know she was a "Tampa girl" and, proudly, one of the rare native born Floridians. She graduated from Hillsborough High School, Tampa and attended Southeastern University in Lakeland, FL

In addition to being a homemaker, Bobbie also enjoyed several other jobs through her life: telephone operator for the phone company and for the Sarasota Herald Tribune, sales assistant at Grant's Department Store, receptionist for the President of New College  (when it really was NEW) in Sarasota,  and  assistant to the lawyers at a firm in Tallahassee.  If a job involved welcoming and talking to people, Bobbie excelled!

Bobbie loved to shop for deals!  Never one to pay full price for anything (she was born right after the Great Depression and before World War II, after all!)  she enjoyed the challenge of "the hunt".  In fact, if something was a really good deal, it didn't matter if she or anyone she knew needed it, she bought it and put it in her "gift closet".  When you went to Bobbie's house and got ready to leave,  she would often disappear into a spare bedroom for a couple of minutes, and come out with a gift for you…a pack of gum, eye-shadow, coloring book and crayons, a puzzle, candy,, scarf, brightly colored fuzzy socks, or even a dress that wasn't your size but she was sure it would look great on you…all chosen from her randomly curated collection in the gift closet.  Or sometimes the gift was selected  from her very own pantry.  Possibly a box of hot chocolate or maybe an entire bag of canned goods, including canned asparagus or pickled anything…a box of jello or outdated blueberry pie-filling.  Bobbie's purpose was to give you a gift. It was part of who she was.

The greatest gift Bobbie ever wanted to make sure people had was the gift of Jesus' salvation!  From at least the time she was a young mother, she told people about Jesus and His love, His Word, His gift.  Her long-suffering husband, her "Johnny", knew well that any outing with his beloved Bobbie would include much extra time waiting while Bobbie took advantage of any opportunity she saw to tell people the Good News.  Stores, parks, airports, beach walks, schools…the postman or washing-machine repairman who knocked on the door…all got to hear about The Gift!  This was probably the biggest part of who she was.

When she and John took their first pastorate in Ormond Beach in 1974  Bobbie's warm smile and friendly disposition as she often greeted people when they entered the tiny concrete building was helpful in seeing the church grow to what is now Calvary Christian Center.  Bobbie was an inspiring speaker at women's retreats and meetings.

In addition to her husband of nearly 60 years, John,  who passed away in 2013, Bobbie's joy was her children and grandchildren.  She is survived by three daughters, Sandy (Ron) Johnson, Susan (Bob-deceased 2008) Weir, Patty (Tom) Lebo,  10 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren and counting!  She is also survived by three sisters and their families.

Viewing and visitation will be at Lohman's Funeral Home, Ormond Beach, on Tuesday, March 9, 9:30-11:00, with service at 11:00.  Graveside at 12:00 at Volusia Memorial Park.  Because of Covid there will be limited seating and masks will need to be worn.  Also, the family asks that people having symptoms or exposed to someone with Covid not attend.
