Billy Grooms was born to Mary (Robinson) Grooms and Ralph W. Grooms on August 26th, 1928 in Folkston, Georgia. Billy grew up and went to school in Hilliard, Florida and Folkston, Georgia. In 1946, Billy enlisted in the Marine corps. After Boot Camp, he was sent to China where he enjoyed his tour of duty very much. He married Catherine Pierce and started a family, while in the service. After leaving the Marine Corps, he and his family moved to the Daytona Beach area. He began working in the funeral business as Manager of Baggett Funeral Home. Billy later moved to Las Vegas, Nevada where he had a hearing-aid business. After 10 years, he returned to the Daytona Beach area. He then opened and operated Volusia Oxygen Supply from which he retired. Bill is predeceased by his parents, three brothers and a sister. Billy leaves his wonderful family, Robert Grooms and his wife Nancy of New Smyrna beach; his son Kenneth of Fort Lauderdale; Timothy of Kauai, Hawaii; and his daughter Toni and her husband Mark Grenier of Edgewater, FL. He also leave five grandchildren and several great grandchildren. Additionally, he leaves his brothers Claude, Larry, Ronald and sister JoAnn. He also leaves his companion and partner in Volusia Oxygen Supply, Betty.Visitation will be held at Lohman Funeral Homes, 1201 Dunlawton Ave, Port Orange, FL. on Wednesday, 11/8/2017, starting at 12:00pm, followed by a Service at 1:30pm in the Chapel.
