Bettye K. Shipske, 85 of Ormond Beach passed away peacefully, at home, on Thursday, April 7th with her family by her side.
She was born in Birmingham, AL on November 29, 1930 to Harry and Irene (Walker) Dowsing. She lived in Miami, FL for 50 years, where she raised three daughters and was suffered the loss of her husband of 20 years, Jack H. Keye.
She worked as a hostess, receptionist, and telephone operator, and retired from Barnett Bank in 1998. Bettye moved to Ocala from Miami to be near her parents, and resided there for twenty-five years before making Ormond Beach her home in 2005.
She lived in the Falls Community where she made many friends. She loved to play bunco, hearts, poker, hand and foot, kings, left right center or any other game that had winning "the pot" as a goal. Bettye enjoyed the company of her friends and always was excited to tell them a new joke. She also enjoyed pool aerobics and the "high rollers".
Her laughter was bountiful and bigger than life and will be missed by all.
Bettye is survived by her sister, Charlene Cole, and three loving daughters, Tina Pitt of Ormond Beach, and son in law Marvin Pitt of Orlando, Lisa Wendorf and her husband David of Palm Coast, and Terri Stanley of Ormond Beach. She adored her granddaughters, Laura Michel, so smart and talented and Roxanne Pitt, so loving and kind and her two grandsons, and cousins, JoEllen Bradley, Martha Jo Sharpe and Haskey Allison and her loyal dog Boo who loved her very much.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday; April 13th from 3-5 pm with Bettye's service at 5:00 p.m. at Lohman Funeral Home; 733 W. Granada Blvd. Ormond Beach.
Interment will be held on Thursday; April 14th at 1:00 pm at Good Shepherd Memorial Gardens, Ocala, FL
Memorial contributions may be made in Bettye's memory to her lot rent, care of Terri Stanley, which was her final wish and her final joke.
