Obituary

A Memorial Gathering for Betty Joy Porter will be held on Friday August 28th 2009 from 12:00pm~1:00pm at the Lohman Funeral Home Ormond Chapel with a Funeral Service at 1:00pm and Interment at Daytona Memorial Park immediately following the Service. Betty was born in Berea KY and raised in Cincinnati Ohio by her parents Millard and Ina (Jack) Wyatt. She graduated from Ohio University Member of Sigma Kappa Sorority. Betty was a teacher at Port Orange and Tomoka Elementary schools for many years. She was the past President of the Ormond Beach Women's Club and a member of the Ormond Beach Historical Society and Guild of the Museum of Arts and Science. Her many loves included her stuffed animals a collection of hats baking gingerbread houses and traveling with her best friend Charlie Arnett to North Carolina for the summer. Betty's proudest accomplishment was being instrumental in having the Ormond Beach Women's Club placed on the National Register of Historic Places. Betty is survived by her sons Brian Porter Rick (Robin) Porter Dan Porter Mark (Kristi) Porter; her grandchildren Jake Kyle Nicole Michelle and Samantha; her sister Barbara Hendrix and her best friend Charlie Arnett.
