Obituary

Betty Lou Roberts Pijot passed away peacefully on December 18th. She was the first of identical twins born to Edith and Samuel Roberts on August 29th, 1924, in Booneville, Arkansas. After her graduation from Arkansas State Teacher's College she married Joseph David Pijot, making homes in Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Alabama, and finally Florida. She taught home economics in high school in Panama City, Florida, for many years. She moved to Ormond Beach after her husband died in 1986.

Betty was a grand and gracious lady. She was as beautiful inside as out. She enjoyed nothing more than hosting "family night dinners" for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren's birthdays. When her grandchildren were very young she began a beautiful tradition of giving the entire family a summer cruise at Christmas - a family reunion every year that no one treasured more than she did.

She was surrounded by loving friends as well through her involvement in Christ Presbyterian Church, PEO Sisterhood, and Ormond Beach Women's Club. She loved playing bridge and Mah Jongg in the homes of dear friends. Active and independent throughout her life, she enhanced the lives of many. She will be missed.

Betty is pre-deceased by her husband Joe, her son-in-law, Tommy Durrance, and her niece, Laurie McIntosh. She is survived by her beloved twin sister Sue Cook, daughter Jo Lynn Durrance, daughter Barbara Schmidt (Bob), son David Pijot (Sandy), grandchildren Tad Durrance (Kibbe), Dai Young (Andrew), Joey Durrance, Marly Natherson, Christie Lay (Shawn), Meredith Griffin (John), Meric Reaves, Melodye Lewis, and great grandchildren Trey Durrance, Whitaker Young, Carleigh Reaves, Landon Reaves, Mason Cromer, Cate Lay, and Abbie Lewis.

A Memorial Service will be held in Betty's honor Monday, December 22, 2014 at 4 pm at Lohman Funeral Home Ormond. Family will begin greeting friends at 3:30pm. Arrangements are under the careful direction of Lohman Funeral Home Ormond.
